Jamie Roberts has been with the NOAA Central Library (NCL) since 2016. She is part of the Library’s Bibliometrics Team and tracks not only what NOAA publishes but who uses NOAA publications. Jamie is also part of the Reference and Outreach Teams, and co-hosts a regular “Coffee & Questions” session in the library.
Before coming to NCL, Jamie earned master’s degrees in Conservation (2003) and Library Science (2013) and worked at the Michigan Maritime Museum, the Conservation Division of the Library of Congress (LC) , and the Rare Book Reading Room at LC. Her expertise is in the handling and storage of rare materials and her research interests include collection management and best practices for representing data visually.
Professionally, Jamie has presented at local and national conferences about the preservation and storage of oversized newspapers, octavo volumes, and microfilm. She has also spoken locally about the history of censorship in comic books.
Jamie lives in Silver Spring with a tabletop garden of cacti and succulents. Her favorite topics of conversation include her nephew, podcasts (especially Welcome to Nightvale and Lore), and adult beginner ballet.
